Below are the most common reasons students experience difficulty logging in as a First Time User.
1. Student was never given a username and password.
Please review the instructions that led you to SmarterMeasure, that could include a printout, email instructions, website, etc. From those instructions, try to locate your username and password. If you are unable to locate your username and password, contact your instructor or advisor.
2. Students are using familiar passwords used in logging into other systems such as LMS but not the correct one to login to SmarterMeasure. See #1 for an explanation of First Time User logins. Please also note that a PIN is not necessary for logging in as a First Time User.
3. Student has the correct username/password, but received the following message: The username and/or password was not correct. Please try again. Students may have a typo in the password. Sometimes numbers and letters look alike. For instance, if one of the characters in your password appears to be the number one, try typing the lower-case letter “l” instead.
4. Students are unable to type anything in the username field, or there is no dropdown box with Usernames from which to select. The username field is a drop-down box. Click on the down arrow to view the options and click to select. If no usernames appear in the dropdown list, the browser or browser settings are not currently compatible with the assessment. Please try using an alternate browser to take SmarterMeasure. If you are using a mobile device and unable to view any options the student should access the assessment from a desktop or laptop instead.
5. Person is a prospective student and taking SmarterMeasure as a guest user, but the school has not provided a guest user login. Please contact the school directly and request the username/password for prospective students. We cannot provide guest login information through the support help desk.
