The SmarterMeasure Learning Readiness Indicator is an assessment which quantifies a learner’s readiness to learn based on non-cognitive indicators of success. Educational institutions often embed the assessment as an assignment in an orientation or other course. Upon completion of the assessment, the learners receive a score report with a guide to interpretation of the scores.
To prompt students to read the score report and to reflect on their level of readiness to learn, some schools assign either a reflective paper and/or discussion board questions in the course that prompts the student to examine their scores and identify steps they can take to foster academic success. The suggested reflective paper assignment and discussion board questions contained in this document may be edited as appropriate. Note that the suggested assignment and discussion board questions are purposefully crafted as open ended questions with no right or wrong answer. A well written paper and/or discussion board question should not prompt a yes/nor or brief answer, but should nudge the student to reflect on their prior experiences and share their personal reflections.
Suggested discussion board questions are provided for factors at the scale and sub-scale level.
