The SmarterMeasure Learning Readiness Indicator is an assessment that measures levels of non-cognitive indicators of student success. It is used to help students go into the learning experience with their “eyes wide open” about their traits, attributes, availability, and skills. There are seven sections to the assessment. Schools may provide all seven sections to their students or opt-out of some sections if they choose. The seven sections are Life Factors, Individual Attributes, Reading Rate & Recall, Technical Competency, Technical Knowledge, Keyboarding, and Learning Styles.
Some schools consider the option of building their own learner readiness assessment. This document provides seventeen reasons why it is better to utilize SmarterMeasure than to internally develop an assessment. The reasons are grouped into these categories: research & development, track record, functionality, national comparative data, remedial resources, curricular integration, technical integration options, custom user interface, data security, end-user support, hosting, expansion, evolution, training, and scripting.
