The SmarterMeasure Learning Readiness Indicator is an assessment that students often take during enrollment, an orientation course or at some other point typically early in the student’s learning experience at the school. It is an assessment that measures levels of non-cognitive indicators of student success. It is used to help students go into the learning experience with their “eyes wide open” about their traits, attributes, availability and skills. There are seven sections to the assessment. The seven sections are Life Factors, Individual Attributes, Reading Rate & Recall, Technical Competency, Technical Knowledge, Keyboarding and Learning Styles. Schools may provide all seven sections to their students or opt-out of some sections if they choose.
The SmarterMeasure Learning Readiness Indicator is composed of multiple scales with each section measuring multiple sub-scales. Schools have the ability to opt-out of administering any scale to their students. Schools may also re-order the sequence through which the scales are delivered to the students. The assessment does not have to be completed at one sitting, but can be offered in disaggregate mode and/or the student may stop and restart the assessment as needed.
The Individual Attributes scale has an alternative version. The standard version of the Individual Attributes scale measures the following six sub-scales with four questions each:
- Procrastination
